Toyota Supra TRD Concept to debut in Japan, teaser photo shown today

A Toyota Supra TRD Concept is on the way and we only have to wait until February 9 to see it. Officially called the Toyota GR Supra Performance Line Concept TRD (which is the last time we will say so) it looks like a spicy Supra with a big old wing hanging from the back.

All we have to do is outline the silhouette of the car that looks pretty good. The people at TRD generally bring more to the party than just aesthetic updates. We will be intrigued to see if a significant amount of power has been added to the equation, possibly enough to bring it in line with the 382 hp of the BMW Z4? Maybe we dream. Aero, brake and suspension extensions are most likely a given. The sketch is clear how low the ground will be, but we are still pleased to see how Toyota chooses to modify the Supra first.

If Toyota broke the wing of the Mk IV and hit this car, we would not be disappointed. From now on they appear to be the more functional route for the concept, with a wing designed to produce large amounts of downforce. It is easy to start speculating as crazy about such a car, but we must not forget that it is only a concept. What ultimately leads to production or an aftermarket parts catalog is a mystery for everyone.
